As an associate in the financial institutions team of the corporate practice in Hong Kong, Katherine Tsang advises financial intermediaries on Hong Kong securities law and regulatory compliance matters.
Katherine has extensive experience advising on the financial services regulatory regime in Hong Kong, and frequently advises clients on compliance with the Securities and Futures Ordinance, Banking Ordinance, Insurance Companies Ordinance, and codes and guidelines issued by regulators in Hong Kong. Katherine also advises clients on employment matters.

Advising one of the world's largest reinsurance company on a restructuring across the Asia Pacific region, including providing detailed local law advice in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and coordinating with local counsel in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Guam, India and the Philippines.
Advising Prudential on the £13bn domestication of its Hong Kong branch insurance business, including the US$21bn transfer of its life insurance business and transfer of its general insurance business to new locally incorporated insurers.
Advising various financial institutions, funds and investment managers on Types 1, 4 and 9 licence applications with the Securities and Futures Commission, including analyzing the implications of the licensing rules and regulations on the business activities of such financial institutions, and the relevant exemptions.
Advising a US-based bank on issues relating to their bancassurance arrangement with a leading insurer, including the provision of assistance in relation to the policy and marketing materials of certain life products to ensure they are compliant with GL16 published by the Insurance Authority.
Advising a leading PRC-based technology company and a US-based international bank on the implications of the Securities and Futures Ordinance on their financial technology innovations, such as the application of the licensing regime and the relevant exemptions, and the recent publications by the Securities and Futures Commission on robo-advisory services and online distribution.
Advising a PRC based company on matters in relation to a REIT, including licensing of the REIT manager, on-going compliance under SFC regulations and application of the REIT Code.
Advising various financial institutions and companies on issues with transfer of employment and pension schemes in group restructurings and mergers and acquisitions.
