Widely regarded as one of the UK's top product liability defence lawyers, John has acted in high profile Group Actions in the High Court relating to the Measles, Mumps and Rubella Vaccine, Tobacco, Vioxx, Blood Products, All Metal Hips and Niger Delta Oil Spills. 

John gives litigation and risk management advice to global companies and trade associations in a range of industries including life sciences, oil and gas, telecommunications, food and beverages, consumer goods and transport. He has also worked with clients to co-ordinate the defence of cross-border product liability claims in over 35 jurisdictions, including claims in the U.S., Canada, Australia and various countries in Europe. 

John regularly advises clients on product safety risk management issues such as compliance systems, media handling, regulatory investigations and prosecutions, product recalls, crisis management and liaison with EU and national authorities.  

John was appointed by the European Commission to lead the team that carried out a major study on the Product Liability Directive and its possible reform and was a founding member of the Working Group established by the Commission to monitor and review product liability developments.

Co-ordinating, on an international basis, a number of the largest global product recalls of consumer products on behalf of market-leading international brand names.

Conducting product liability audits for leading international consumer goods manufacturers and advising on systems to minimise potential regulatory and litigation risks.

Co-ordinating, on an international basis, the defence of product liability claims relating to various products including pharmaceutical products and medical devices in over 35 jurisdictions.

Representing clients in MHRA safety investigations and criminal prosecutions for breaches of regulatory requirements.

Defending clinical trial claims in the High Court and under the ABPI Compensation Guidelines.

Representing clients in coroner's inquests into deaths suspected of being connected with the use of products.
