Wouter Jongen is an English and Netherlands law qualified finance lawyer focusing on leveraged financings and restructurings, acting both for borrowers and lenders. During his career, he has spent several years in London where he gained invaluable experience dealing with cross-border complex restructuring files.
Some of his recent restructuring work includes advising senior creditors in relation to the (restructuring) of debt obligations of NMC Health as well as assisting the guarantee providers in relation to the high profile restructuring of Imtech.
Wouter has recently acted as lenders' counsel on the public bid financings supporting the acquisitions of (i) GrandVision by EssilorLuxottica (which was the largest deal in the Benelux in 2019) and (ii) Royal Volker Wessels by Reggeborgh. Furthermore, Wouter has been at the forefront of the unitranche debt market, working with private capital providers (such as ICG, Ares, Blackrock, Permberton, Tikehau, Alcentra, Permira, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and others) on alternative lending products, and with banks providing super-senior working capital facilities.
He also advised on the financings for international private equity sponsors (such as BC Partners, Apax, IK Invest, Providence, Paine, Montagu, Vitruvian and Silverfleet) and for all major Dutch PE funds. Wouter frequently acts as sponsor/borrower' counsel including for Acquiline, Egeria, Parcom, Mentha, HB Capital, Strikwerda, Royal Terberg Group, Center Parcs and investment grade companies Schiphol, Enexis and Stork.
On the real estate financing side, Wouter assists Goldman Sachs, HSBC and others in various matters. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells as a partner in October 2014, Wouter was a senior associate at a multinational law firm (London and Amsterdam).
