Clay James named Hogan Lovells office managing partner in San Francisco

San Francisco, 28 January 2019 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Clay James has been named Office Managing Partner for the firm's San Francisco office.

A member of the firm’s board, James is a litigator and trial lawyer who tackles high-stakes intellectual property disputes, class actions, privacy and data security cases, and complex commercial litigation, with a focus on technology-related matters. He joined Hogan Lovells Denver office in 2009 from Sun Microsystems where he served as chief litigation counsel for seven years.

Hogan Lovells' San Francisco office is known for its strength in the technology sector, particularly as it relates to corporate and transactional, regulatory, intellectual property, privacy and cybersecurity, employment, and litigation matters.

Over the past year, the office’s lawyers have been involved in several high-profile transactions including Walmart’s US$16 billion acquisition of Flipkart, Adobe’s US$4.75 billion acquisition of Marketo, and Autodesk’s US$875 million acquisition of PlanGrid.
