Buffet by MLex and Hogan Lovells

Since 2004, national authorities in the EU have played a vital role in enforcing and developing EU competition law. But do they have the right tools? Are they sufficiently resourced to carry on this task independently and effectively? Is new EU legislation required?

Following the Commission's consultation on improving the tools available to national competition authorities and amid signs of growing political influence over authorities in certain countries, we will discuss these issues in an informal setting with the DG COMP Head of Unit leading the Commission review and the heads of a number of national competition authorities, including the Director General of the Swedish Competition Authority and the Commissioner/Rapporteur at the Hellenic Competition Commission.

  • Matthew Levitt, Partner, Hogan Lovells Brussels
